Pepper is one of the 3 Starter Bears and one of the 22 Bears. He was introduced on July 6, 2022, alongside
Cubert,
Cupcake,
Flan,
Mocha,
Sushi, and
Ube.
Appearance
Level 1
Pepper is a red bear wielding a sword shaped like a chilli pepper. His body features a gradient that shifts from orange-yellow to red. His paws and the insides of his ears are green, the latter resembling leaves. A strap across his body carries several small bottles.
Level 2
Pepper's appearance remains largely unchanged, though his tummy is now green and his mouth is closed. He wears two straps instead of one. His sword is noticeably larger, with its tip shaded orange. His hair also appears to have an additional spike.
Level 3
Pepper's ears adopt a different shape from their previous rounded form, and his face is marked with subtle dark red patterns. The green in his ears expands into a flame-like shape. He now wears brown armbands and legbands. His sword features a cut-out shape along its blade.
Level 4
Pepper's hair is spikier than before, and his tummy now displays a new design. His straps include a larger bottle among the others. He wears a brown belt, shoulder pads, and gloves. His sword has taken on a flame-like form, with a differently shaped stem.
Level 5
Pepper's overall appearance is similar to Level 4, but with added details. He now has a mohawk and double facial markings. His strap holds two bottles, with an additional belt worn below. He wears brown knee armour, and his sword is significantly larger, with multiple cut-out sections revealing the inside of the pepper-shaped blade.
Personality
Pepper is adventurous, curious, headstrong, snarky, but still caring as confirmed by Qwelver.[1][2]

Strategies
- Pepper is a very cost-efficient early-game defender. Place multiple level 1 Peppers at the beginning of the track to fend off weak Enemies while you save up for more expensive Bears, or to farm more Gumdrops with
Mocha. - At higher levels, ensure Pepper is set to Strong to fully utilize his high damage.
- Using
Bacon to increase Pepper's
Range allows him to deal much more damage due to him being able to reach Enemies farther and attack them for longer. - When paired with
Matcha and at max level, Pepper is capable of doing over 200 damage. - Pairing with
Jam may also be recommended. Due to Pepper's short range, having Jam stun enemies allows him to get one or two more hits in. - Placing Peppers along one side of the track is better for normal Enemies, while two Peppers on each side is better for Bosses.
- Since Pepper's
Cooldown is quite high, it's best two lower it using Matcha and Bacon's combo so he can attack faster, therefore doing more damage. Considering Pepper's small footprint, many of them can be stacked on corners/junctions to fully utilize Matcha and Bacon's Range.
Trivia
- Pepper is one of the two Bears whose cooldown increases as they level up, the other being
Caviar. - When the game was in Beta, they had to reset the entire kill leaderboard due to a data loss. As an apology for this, Sage Biohazard Skin was released that costed only 1 Sugar Cube, later to be updated to the actual price of a B-tier (120
Honey/120
Sugar Cubes at the time) in the next update. This Skin was then remodeled, as it carried themes of the poison Enemies added later to the game. - Pepper is one of the first 6 Bears to be added to the game in the Beta Release, the other 5 being
Cupcake,
Flan,
Mocha,
Sushi, and
Ube. - Qwelver has confirmed that Cupcake, Pepper, and Sushi are roommates that live in a cave.[3]
- Pepper, alongside Cupcake and Sushi has been confirmed to never get a Combo Bear.[4]
- Pepper, alongside Cupcake and Sushi was intended to have a Skin in the "laced" collection, with Pepper's Skin being named "Laced Lilac".[5][6]
- Qwelver confirmed that they were the first A-tier Skins to be designed, before scrapping them and moving on to make Day Break and Night Fall.
- Pepper was the first Bear to be modeled and coded.[7]
- Pepper's original concepts were Coconut and Baguette.[8][9]
- Pepper has the shortest overall
Range of all Bears, from 3 to 4. - Pepper is the first Melee Bear.
